thoughts in the morning
I am about to head off to go teach this morning, but I have a few things on my brain.
PokerSomehow, someway, I have to quickly rebuild a bankroll for online poker. First, I busted out of my Poker Stars and Ultimate Bet accounts. Next, I used $22 out of my $50 remaining dollars at Poker.com to play a single table tournament. I placed second, netting me another $40 in profit. I then started playing $50 NL and I quickly doubled up. My account (2 minutes ago) had almost reached $300, but then I lost a big pot when my AA ran up against a flopped set on a dry board. Oh well, I still have more than $250 in the account, which is enough to get me going again. I had had perhaps 8 winning sessions in a row, so a little variance-adjustment was due.
Virginia Tech
Wow, how sad. It makes me want to be nice to everyone, all of the time... even though I know that I can't do that. I just read that one of the professors killed was from the Civil and Environmental Engineering department.... makes me feel like it could have been me. The good news, for me, is that none of my friends were hurt. They were luckily out of town.
FamilyThe family is growing up fast, but not fast enough. Ella is started to be more independent, which is welcome. She's also starting to sleep through the night in her crib, which is very welcome.
Book Idea
I have always wanted to write a novel. I have often brainstormed about ideas for a novel, coming up with thousands of plots but never sticking to one. I have one in mind right now that I have been mulling over for weeks. I might actually start it sometime soon. I have a very loose outline even. It should be fun, because one of the central characters will be based on my grandfather. Gramps passed away a few years ago, so it will be nice to think about him more.
